This was the shortest stay of all. Janie and I were in the middle of buying a flat near Finsbury Park and it was dragging on beyond our leaving date in Brixton. Cathy offered us sanctuary in Enfield but didn't think to mention that the place had already been sold and that the new owners would be coming in to measure up for curtains on the Monday after we had moved in on Saturday. Imagine our surprise!
The thing I remember most about the place is the lingering smell of gas - I still associate that smell with Queens Road - and the fact that you could see Dave MacKay's Tie Shop from the back garden.
We may have only spent ten days here, but those ten days changed the world as we were spurred on to abandon our plans and to move further out than we had thought possible. If it hadn't been for Queens Road we may well have ended up stuck in a flat in FInsbury Park rather than ultimately stuck in a house in the suburbs. Think on that...
