Emma and Lucy slept through - we had to wake them up at about 9.15am... this is a very good thing. Later, Emma came into our room, opened the cupboard in the corner, looked in and said 'oh my goodness!' (well you had to be there). Got dressed in a rush and headed down to Primelin to catch the Saturday morning market... except there isn't one so we took a picture of some cows instead and then went to the local boulangerie for bread and stuff and back to the cottage for an extended snack lunch.
In the early afternoon we stayed in the garden and had tea and lounged around. I found a tiny flower and pointed it out to Emma. We talked about how the bees have to work very hard to make honey from such small flowers and she told me how they the bees collect the nectar. Very illuminating. There were loads of small apples on the ground which had fallen from the trees. Emma didn't like them. 'I only like bananas,' she declared. Cloudy intervals eventually gave way to an extended sunny spell at which point we got in the car and headed down to the local plage. Had a paddle (too cold for Janie to swim - shock, horror!) and collected seaweed (but no 'sheelsheels' for Lucy). Then off to the supermarket on the way home for supplies - Coq au Vin and Haricot Verts out of a tin for dinner. Yum! The only real downer was that the 'underpants' that I'd suggested Janie would return from the shop with turned out to be dull old ice cream - they were convinced that Janie was going to serve up some hitherto unknown delicacy.
Putting them to bed, Emma was really tired and dropped off pretty much in mid air. Lucy remembered that they hadn't had their teeth cleaned so we had to wake poor Emma up to clean hers in bed. Lucy waited while this took place and then took the toothbrush back to the bathroom and put it back on the shelf. All on her own initiative. Then it was time for the story - Kanga and Baby Roo. I was lying on Lucy's bed and Janie was sitting on the floor. We all had a big big cuddle, then Lucy wrapped her arms around us, pulled us down and said 'you kiss' which we did, Then she kissed both of us on the lips and beamed... never seen anyone happier..
