Friday 13 August Leave home 8pm. Easy traffic until we get to slip road off the motorway when we grind to halt - previous ferry delayed so ours is running late. Result is we eat late and get very little sleep. Saturday 14 August Ferry arrives late at Le Havre and as usual we get lost trying to find the Pont de Normandie. Eventually get there and make first coffee stop at Lisieux (Lucy awake). Then on towards Evreux and Dreux - second stop for Coke and relief and more feeding. Big stop near Orleans for sandwiches and coffee. Three more stops on autoroute and then final feeding stop at Aixe Sur Vienne and to pick up pizza at St Mathieu before finally arriving at L'Age at about 8.00 pm (512 miles). Sunday 15 August Jambon and Haricot Vert market in St Mathieu. Monday 16 August Aixe sur Vienne swimming pool. They don't like baggies and they don't like rubber rings. Then we went to Stoc and they don't like people in their supermarket after 7.30pm. Flustered we forgot to buy nappies. Hrrmph! Tuesday 17 August Nick up early to go to Ecomarche - Babies paddled in Grand Lac later Wednesday 18 August Nick takes E and L for walk in buggy in the rain. Took rubbish to La Chapelle de Montbrandaix and drove around Thursday 19 August Janie swims at Grand Lac and Nick brings babies over in the buggy. Emma hates riding in the buggy on the rough ground and cries all the way through the woods Friday 20 August Rochechouart lake. Emma sits up for the first time. Shopping at Champion. Saturday 21 August Rochechouart lake Sunday 22 August St Mathieu shopping in the morning then paddling pool in the afternoon with Adam. Monday 23 August Plage de Videix late afternoon Tuesday 24 August Plage de Videix late afternoon then dinner with Derek and Diana Wednesday 25 August Piegut market, Cussac, and late lunch at the weird Moulin de la Chabroulie. Lucy decides she doesn't like ducks. Thursday 26 August Swimming at Videix. Drinks and meal with David and Fiona, their kids, Derek, Diana and Adam. Friday 27 August End of holiday depression. Later swimming at Grand Lac and packing Saturday 28 August Leave L'Age at about 1.50 pm having taken an age to get everything squeezed into the car. Stop off at Orleans Sunday 29 August Still have long drive before getting the ferry. Bit of a panic about catching it again! |
